Adapting Ontologies to Content Patterns using Transformation Patterns
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ontology content patterns are meant to be used not only for new ontologies but also for reengineering of existing ontologies. However, the modelling style of such ontologies often differs from the best-practice pattern that is to be imported to their root portions, which makes the integration of the two models time-consuming and error-prone. We explore how the recently developed PatOMat transformation framework could be applied to ease the adaptation of ‘legacy’ ontologies to a widely used content pattern from the OntologyDesignPatterns.org library. We also investigate the link between transformation choices and logical patterns as those earlier proposed by the W3C SWBPD Group.

Applications of Ontology Design Patterns in the Transformation of Multimedia Repositories
The development of ontologies from scratch is a very inefficient approach. Hence, ontology development is increasingly being conducted by reusing existing ontological and non-ontological resources as it lowers the time and cost of developing new ontologies, avoids duplicating efforts and ensures interoperability. Similarly, the emergence of ontology design patterns has facilitated the reuse of ...
متن کاملBuilding Ontologies by using Re-engineering Patterns and R2RML Mappings
The ontologization of non-ontological resources has led to the design of several specific methods, techniques and tools. Among those techniques, we have the Re-engineering Patterns. More specifically, we have the Patterns for re-engineering NORs (PR-NOR) that define a procedure that transforms the NOR terms into ontology representational primitives. Currently, the W3C RDB2RDF Working Group is a...
متن کاملA Study on Morpho-Syntactic Patterns: A Cohesive Device in Some Persian Live Sport Radio and TV Talks
Morpho-syntactic patterns device encompasses a subcategory of the cohesive devices that assists hearers to have an adequate mental representation for understanding speech. This article investigates the morpho-syntactic patterns employed in some Persian live sport radio and TV programs adapting Dooley and Levinsohn’s theoretical and analytical framework. The research data includes around 30,000 ...
متن کاملWebulous and the Webulous Google Add-On - a web service and application for ontology building from templates
BACKGROUND Authoring bio-ontologies is a task that has traditionally been undertaken by skilled experts trained in understanding complex languages such as the Web Ontology Language (OWL), in tools designed for such experts. As requests for new terms are made, the need for expert ontologists represents a bottleneck in the development process. Furthermore, the ability to rigorously enforce ontolo...
متن کاملDetection and Transformation of Ontology Patterns
As more and more ontology designers follow the patternbased approach, automatic analysis of those structures and their exploitation in semantic tools is becoming more doable and important. We present an approach to ontology transformation based on transformation patterns, which could assist in many semantic tasks (such as reasoning, modularisation or matching). Ontology transformation can be ap...
